Позакласний захід  до Дня В.Шекспіра. Трагедія «Ромео та Джульєтта».

In this lesson, learners will be introduced to the Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet through a short animated video. They will watch the video and complete comprehension activities, and then will be guided to think about and discuss the idea of ‘family feuds’ from the play. Finally learners will develop their speaking skills by role-playing a situation where two friends have done something mean to each other.

Aims

Learners will develop strategies for watching and understanding a short video based on the Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet.

Learners will develop comprehension and speaking skills by discussing ideas from the play.

Learners will develop speaking skills through a personalised speaking activity based on an element from the play.

Romeo and Juliet

Many years ago in Verona, Italy, there were two families.

“We are the Capulets.”

“We are the Montagues.”

These families are always fighting. The Montagues have a son, Romeo. The Capulets have a daughter, Juliet. One night the Capulets have a party and Romeo goes. He meets Juliet and they fall in love. Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, sees Romeo and is very angry.

“He’s a Montague! Get him!”

“Oh Romeo, why are you a Montague?”

Romeo and Juliet talk and decide to get married. They know that their families will be very angry so they go to Friar Lawrence and are married in secret. The next day, Tybalt sees Romeo. He is still angry with Romeo and wants to fight him. Romeo doesn’t want to fight but his best friend, Mercutio, does.

“If you won’t fight him, I will!”

Mercutio fights Tybalt. Tybalt kills Mercutio! Romeo is so upset he fights Tybalt and kills him too! The Prince of Verona is very angry and sends Romeo away. Juliet goes to Friar Lawrence for help.

“Here is a special drink. You will sleep for two days. Your family will think you are dead but you will wake up. Then you and Romeo can be free together.”

Friar Lawrence sends Romeo a letter to tell him the plan. But Romeo doesn’t get the message. He hears that Juliet is dead! Romeo is so upset he buys some poison and goes to see Juliet.

“Now I will stay with you forever.”

Too late, Juliet wakes up! She sees what happened.

“Oh no! You didn’t leave any poison for me but here is your knife.”

Romeo and Juliet are both dead. Friar Lawrence tells the Capulets and Montagues what happened. They are so sad they agree not to fight any more.

День англійської мови «Shakespeare Day» у школах  в рамках Тижня англійської мови в Україні

Ініціатива GoGlobal у співпраці з Міністерством освіти і науки України та Британською Радою в Україні пропонує всім загальноосвітнім навчальним закладам взяти участь у всеукраїнському проекті “Тиждень англійської мови”. Впродовж 12-го по 18-те грудня по всій країні заплановані заходи із вивчення та користування англійською мовою. Проект присвячений офіційному закриттю Року англійської мови в Україні та спрямований на популяризацію вивчення англійської мови в Україні.

Однією з головних активностей тижня стане День англійської у середніх закладах освіти – 14 грудня 2016 року. Цього дня пропонуємо усім загальноосвітнім навчальним закладам провести відкриті уроки, розмовні клуби або підготувати театральні постановки, присвячені пам’яті видатного поета та драматурга Сполученого Королівства Великобританії Вільяма Шекспіра. Британська Рада в Україні надає методичні матеріали для підготовки відкритих уроків і розмовних клубів для початкової та середньої школи.

Загальноосвітні навчальні заклади можуть долучитись до проекту в такому форматі:

- Оголосити 14-го грудня 2016 року в Днем англійської мови «Shakespeare Day» в загальноосвітніх навчальних закладах.

- Провести відкриті уроки, розмовні клуби або театральні постановки на основі наданих дидактичних матеріалів.

- Викласти фотоматеріали з проведених подій у соціальних мережах під хештегом  #weekofenglish

- Повідомити Global Office (на пошту join@goglobal.com.ua) про наміри взяти участь у проекті для розголосу серед регіональних ЗМІ до 8 грудня 2016 року.
